12% of Nebraska corn out of the field

This last week brought, yet again, little to no precipitation with temperatures in the triple digits and winds leading to drier conditions. This all leading to continued state wide harvesting of dry land corn according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, Nebraska Field Office . Seed corn harvest is underway and high moisture corn is being picked for feed lots.

Temperatures averaged 1-2 degrees above normal across the state with highs in the triple digits and overnight lows in the mid 30’s.

98% of corn has reached the dent stage, well ahead of the 83% average, with 55% of corn being mature, compared to the 13% average. Total grain harvested is at 12% while the average for this time of year is 1%.

Corn conditions are being rated 31% good to excellent, falling well bellowing the 79% average. Irrigated conditions are a pleasant 51% good to excellent while dry land corn drops down to 3%.
