October 25, 2010 Crop Progress Update

Harvest Nearly Complete

According to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, Nebraska Field Office, corn harvested was 74 percent complete, well ahead of 15 last year and the 38 average.

Temperature across the state averaged 4 degrees above normal. High temperatures reached the mid to upper 70’s across the state while lows were recorded in the upper 20’s to low 30’s. Light precipitation fell late in the week mostly in the western two-thirds of the state and the far southeast counties. The North Central District averaged the most moisture at over .5 of an inch.

The following photographs were taken by Nebraska FFA Chapters, each representing the eight districts. They show the crop progress in each area and illustrate the differences in progress across Nebraska. This week the following FFA Chapter’s participated, respectively: Howells Clarkson FFA Chapter and Sumner Eddyville Miller FFA Chapter.
