HOW TO USE THE CORN CURRICULUM

Welcome to the Teacher's Instructions for Corn in the Classroom!

It is easy to incorporate different lessons into your classroom that include information on or involve corn.

There are nine separate units available. Each has a different focus, which is why brief summaries are provided. All materials are in .pdf format, so feel free to download anything that may interest you and adapt as you see fit.

Before getting started, we recommend reading an introduction, The Cycle of Corn.

Click here to go to the unit summary page – from there you can download each complete unit, as well as a Teacher’s Key for each unit.

After selecting a unit you – or your students – can read the story that accompanies the unit.

The full unit includes lessons that teach math, science, social studies, language arts and music/art. Choose the lesson(s) that fit your class and objectives and then teach the lesson.

Each lesson plan contains learning objectives, additional background for teachers, suggested evaluation and student activities.

In some cases the activities include worksheets or examples, which are provided. Answers to the worksheets can be found in the " Teachers Key ."
