For the 2010-11 marketing year (September 1, 2010 through August 31, 2011),  it is estimated that 74% of Nebraska’s 1.47 billion bushels produced during the year will be used within the state, with just 26% shipped out of state, or in residual or carryout. This figure has increased steadily over the last several years as the corn-based ethanol sector has grown. By using more Nebraska corn in Nebraska, we’re capturing more of the corn’s value right here in the state.  That’s good for the state’s economy, rural communities and Nebraska corn farmers.

The pie charts below show a further estimated breakdown of usage for the 2010-11 year.
