Governor Declared September as Renewable Fuels Month During a press conference at Husker Harvest Days, Governor Dave Heineman declared September as Renewable Fuels Month in Nebraska. The governor was joined by Alan Tiemann, chairman of the Nebraska Corn Board, Kenny Wallace, American Ethanol spokesperson, and Lisa Lunz, chairwoman of the Nebraska Soybean Board.

Zimmerman Recognized by NCB for Commitment to Pork Industry The Nebraska Corn Board in partnership with the Nebraska Pork Producers Association recognized pork producer, Brian Zimmerman, from Beatrice, Neb. for his past and continued commitment to agriculture in Nebraska. Zimmerman, owner/manager of Zimmerman Hog Farms, and his family were presented with the award during the Nebraska State Fair. Zimmerman has been involved at the local, state and national levels on behalf of the pork industry.

NCB Has Run of Successful Promotions The Nebraska Corn Board took part in many successful promotions through September at the Nebraska State Fair, Husker Harvest Days, River City Rodeo and I-80 Speedway. The promotions had themes around corn use in ethanol or livestock, general ethanol promotion and education of urban youth. In addition, the Nebraska Corn Board promoted the Nebraska Farmer – Sustaining Innovation messages with a parade trailer that has been to many communities across the state.

One Million Miles on Sunoco Green E15 NASCAR released a report on eclipsing 1 million miles on the use of Sonoco Green E15 in NASCAR’s three racing series. The report discusses the qualities of E15 as a fuel, along with quotes from race team owners and those involved with American Ethanol about the performance and increase in horsepower seen with the switch to the 15 percent ethanol blend.
