NCB Sponsors Nebraska Delegation to Promote US Beef in Japan The Nebraska Corn Board (NCB) sponsored a delegation from Nebraska that promoted US beef in various locations and markets in Japan. The mission was in partnership with the US Meat Export Federation and included NCB spokesman and Olympic gold medalist Curt Tomasevicz; Kelsey Pope, ag program manager for the NCB, farmer and Nebraska Corn Growers Association representative John Willoughby; farmer and Aurora Cooperative board president Bill Schuster; and Nebraska Farmer magazine editor Don McCabe. The group also traveled to the earthquake and tsunami affected region to grill steaks and serve 500 meals to evacuees. Willoughby and Schuster were part of the mission due to their involvement in the Red Cross grain donation program in Nebraska.

NCB Hosts SE Asia, Brazil Trade Teams The Nebraska Corn Board recently hosted two separate trade teams interested in Nebraska’s corn, ethanol and distillers grains production. First, a group from the SE Asia countries of Indonesia, Malaysia and Taiwan were in Kansas and Nebraska to learn about corn marketing and also were interested in ethanol and distillers grains production. The NCB then hosted a group from Brazil that had an interest in corn and cellulosic ethanol production.

Nebraska Grower Elected to National Board During the recent National Corn Growers Association’s Corn Congress in Washington, DC, farmer delegates from across the nation elected Lynn Chrisp to the National Corn Board. Chrisp, a Kenesaw area farmer, will begin to serve a three year term on October 1. He has extensive public service involvement on area and state boards, including service within the Nebraska Corn Growers Association. Chrisp joins fellow Nebraskan and past NCB chairman Jon Holzfaster of Paxton on the national board.

Ethanol Promotions Continue Through Summer Nebraska Corn Board sponsored ethanol promotions have continued during the summer through various avenues. Statewide, the Nebraska Corn Board trailer is promoting ethanol and Sustaining Innovation at various local events and county fair parades; NCB has sponsored racing events at I-80 Speedway; and nationally, the Nebraska Corn Board is part of the agreement through the National Corn Growers Association with American Ethanol and NASCAR in which three NASCAR series are running on E15.
